On our way to Homer, AK. Driving time is only 84 miles. Our campground was on the “spit”. Which means we camped about 10 feet from the bay. OMG. So soothing. The first evening we went to the oyster bar. Took over the joint! Most of us had a bowl of steamers that were fresh out of the bay. Delicious. Although, in Rhode Island, we would consider them cherry stones, not steamers. We all went back to our rv, poured drinks, lit a nice fire for all, pulled up chairs and simply savored the view and the company. The next day was the halibut fishing excursion for those that wanted to go. There were only about 14 that chose to go on this optional excursion. Alan did not go. They said the water was very rough. Two people were seasick. Anyway, it was $230.00 per person plus $20.00 each for processing all the fish caught. Everyone caught their limit so they wound up with 10.6 pounds each. The caveat was that if you wanted your fish sent home it was an additional $177.63! I think everyone managed to find room in their rv freezer. Alan and I slept in which was a treat. Then six of us went to a winery tasting. Had lots of fun pretending we knew what we were doing. I bought some black raspberry wine. Just something different from my usual cupcake brand. Alan bought some sparkling ciders. We went to the visitor’s center which was very interesting. Spent about 1 1/2 hits there. That night we went to a local bar. Definitely a local hangout. The final day all it did was rain, rain and more rain. Did laundry and a bit of housekeeping. Had three couples over to play left, center, right. Everyone brought their own bottle. Need I say more? So much fun. Topped off the day with a cookout by our hosts. The homemade chowder was AWESOME. Hotdogs, chili, potato salad. Desert was dirt pudding with moguls. That apparently is a jeeping desert made with chocolate cake, pudding, cool whip and the moguls were gummy worms. Quite tasty and fun.

it was our turn to have PAK with us so we took him to the bar
